Kisandra Natural Beef is owned and run by Steve and Rebecca Marriott in Gippsland, Victoria.
They use Webb Black Simmental bulls over Angus-Friesian and Hereford-Friesian cross cows, turning off vealers at 10-12 months of age.
“The Australian Simmental is characterized by rapid weight gain – Simmental cross British or bos Indicus calves gain weight 10 to 20 per cent faster, reaching market weight younger and earlier, reducing annual stocking pressure.
The leaner, highly muscled Simmental and Simmental cross animal produces higher yields of saleable beef.
Simmental cattle are extremely docile and easy to manage. This is important in cattle management. Quieter cattle results in reduced stress during the production process.’’
